Fundamentals

Keyboarding Resources

After years of watching people use only a fraction of their fingers while typing, I finally decided keyboarding skills were important enough to include here. Increase your productivity simply by learning to use all your fingers! There are lots of resources available. Here are a few of my favorite no-fee sites that are also really fun! (A reasonable 1st goal is 35-40 words per minute, eventually growing your speed for the professional environment to 60-75 wpm).

www.typing-lessons.org – Great site, especially if you’re not ever sure where to begin

www.abcya.com/fifth_grade_computers.htm – Click on Skills for some silly but fun keyboarding games

www.powertyping.com – Teaching kids and adults how to type on a computer keyboard

“What Janet presents makes our jobs simpler. Her classes are just the right amount of time so that you do not drift and what she says has meaning. And when I say meaning, it’s truly an Ah-ha moment even for experienced users. Her knowledge, attitude, and personality make learning fun.”
