Excel: Getting Started
This session is designed to be a crash course in Excel. We highly recommend taking the respective Fundamentals course for comprehensive training. However, if you are short on time and need to get up to speed on a topic quickly, these will do just that. The sessions below will be applicable regardless of the version of Microsoft Office that you use.

Setting Page Layout
Unlike Microsoft Word, what you see on the screen is not necessarily what you will see in printed format. Perhaps a better session title would be “The Junk Drawer of Excel”. Not that these tools are junk! They are very helpful tools but I have never managed to fit them into a defined collection. Like those tools in a junk drawer at home, these Excel tools must be handy when you need them! We’ll talk about comments, notes, hyperlinks (for purposes other than websites and email addresses), hiding/unhiding (for purposes other than rows and columns), and…drum roll please…macros!
Conditional Formatting is formatting that is automatically applied based on whether or not certain conditions are met – conditions that you determine. For example, you could ask Excel to use a different format to identify largest values, duplicate values, or cells containing certain text. You can also tell Excel to create a jazzy little visual within your data to help you quickly see trends. In this session, I’ll show you how to set up conditional formatting, some of my go-to conditional formats, their results, and how to manage them once they’re created.
Restricting & Protecting Data
Scared someone will mess things up in your beloved spreadsheet? In this session, we’ll discuss various options for protecting your information and restricting what others can see and do in a spreadsheet. Topics include file level passwords and protection, locking cells, protecting a spreadsheet, and data validation. These settings will apply to any version of Microsoft Office that you are using!
When one sheet just won’t do, we’ll explore how you can set up and use multiple sheets in the same workbook file. Topics include: Inserting, Moving, Copying and Deleting worksheets, Changing sheet properties, and Linking worksheets. These topics will apply to any version of Microsoft Office that you are using!
